The WHOOP band is one of the newest and most exciting examples of wearable technology. It is designed to be inconspicuous and easy to wear. WHOOP automatically tracks your workouts, recovery period, and sleep. They want to help you optimize your entire life, not just your workout routines. The charger is innovative, too. Instead of taking the band off to charge, you unplug the charging dock and attach it to your wrist. It makes the WHOOP band look more like a watch, and lets you go about your business until your band is fully charged. It’s so simple and easy, you might forget to take the charging dock off when it’s finished.

Cons

It can have trouble recognizing when you took a short nap instead of watching TV or spending time on the internet. The heart rate tracker is not very accurate, and this can lead to unreliable heart rate variability (HRV) data. Its strength lies in long-term monitoring over weeks or months. One day I was moving some boxes, and it thought I was doing interval training. Amusing, but not very helpful for my exercise diary. WHOOP is a subscription service, so on the front end it is cheaper than other devices, but over time the price can add up.

Bottom Line

The WHOOP band is one of the best offerings on the market. Their goal is not to sell you some hardware and forget about you. WHOOP wants to create a partnership with you and be an integral part of helping you meet all of your health and fitness goals.
